How we handle it
Good tile work is mostly decided before the first tile goes down. We check the floor for flatness and movement, fix the substrate, and plan the layout so cuts land where you won't notice them and grout lines run true through doorways and around drains.
Showers and wet areas get a full waterproofing system behind the tile, not just moisture-resistant board. On large-format tile we use levelling clips and the right trowel and mortar for full coverage, so you don't get hollow spots or lippage.
Before we order material we mark out the room with you: where full tiles start, where cuts fall, and how the pattern meets the tub, niche and threshold. Changing that on paper costs nothing.
Common questions
Can you tile over existing tile?
Sometimes. The old tile has to be solidly bonded and the extra height has to work at doors and transitions. In showers we always take it back to the studs so the waterproofing can be done properly.
How long before I can use a new shower?
It depends on the products used, but plan on a few days after grouting for everything to cure before regular use. We give you the exact timing for your job.
Do you supply the tile?
Either way works. We can supply it, or install tile you've chosen. If you're buying it yourself, check with us first so the quantities, trim pieces and setting materials match.
